Hey All,

I hope someone of you knows this:
Is 2 x 1 GB 880 MHz RAM compatable with 2 x 1 GB 667 MHz RAM?
I have 2 x 1 GB 880 MHz in my pc, but I want to put in more RAM, so is that possible with 2 x 1 GB 667 MHz?

Thanks in advance,

Cahjo

Yes you can do that no problem. But... you must make sure that the RAM is compatible in terms of its type i.e DDR2 or DIM etc make sure they are the same.

I dont believe there is 880mhz, I think you mean 800mhz. Most motherboards will downclock your ram to whatever freq it can use, so if you buy 800mhz and it can only use 667 it will just use 667. As long as its DDR2 and 240pin usually it can be used. But like I said on the subject of freq it depends on the motherboard.

Also If you are talking about running different ram sticks in dual config it will use the lower freq of the RAM in the mobo. And generally is not a good idea to mix and match memory like that. It CAN be done but just wont run as well as the same type.

Hey GDP, Thanks for you information.
Indeed I ment the 800MHz. My mistake.

I am using now the 800 2 times and the 667 2 times and it works well. But I think I will change the 667 into 800 MHz really soon.

Thanks for your comment Smile
